A few years ago, they combined efforts to establish the Woodpecker Shop. In additional to their wood lathe forms, they also craft free forms of odd, attractive pieces of Oregon wood.

The Woodpecker's Shop's signature clear, high gloss finish on many of their wood vases brings out the woods character; the depth of character is though one is looking into the wood. The finish often delivers an effect that is found in many gemstones (Tigers Eye for one) by virtue of long grained crystals. This effect is called Chatoyancy. Bill originally coined "Chatoyant Wood" while in Hawai'i. A truly magnificent example of this Chatoyancy is displayed in the Catalpa wood pieces that have been turned.
On some of their pieces they use electricity to burn intricate designs into the wood called fractal burning. This process is dangerous and takes a great amount of skill to do properly. but the results are breathtaking.
Dave and Bill also offer to make custom vessels, such as urns or turning an item from the wood of a special tree of the customers.
If not satisfied with purchase or there is a flaw, we will certainly do our best to fix or replace the product to the customers satisfaction.
